Increasing the border size will give you a more definite edge (think thicker) to the style, whearas going to a bevel2 will begin colouring further in from the border edge, thus giving the appearance of greater depth. Fun to play with both in any case. As for borders and stuff, one way is to use Bevel2. Another way is to increase border width.
